Being consistent.
I think I may need to figure this out. How do I become more consistent? I know! Be consistent.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, we are still on the branding journey with Personal Branding for Dummies (A Wiley Brand).
consistency
[ kuh n-sis-tuh n-see ]
noun, plural con·sist·en·cies.
• a degree of density, firmness, viscosity, etc.: The liquid has the consistency of cream.
• steadfast adherence to the same principles, course, form, etc.: There is consistency in his pattern of behavior.
• agreement, harmony, or compatibility, especially correspondence or uniformity among the parts of a complex thing: consistency of colors throughout the house.
• the condition of cohering or holding together and retaining form; solidity or firmness.
Hmmm…so that would be, like, offering the same message and stance on topics every time…? Wow! What a concept.
The goal is so that every time you share your message it is delivered in the same way each time. For example- picture Jason Momoa. I know I ask so much of you. Chances are you are seeing an image of him with his signature beard. This was a part of the image he created which is why when he shaved so many had issues with it. His beard was part of his brand. Brands are consistent and recognizable. This includes theme songs and colors. H&R Block has the brand color of light green. You know them when you see the color.
The things you do, say, wear, and promote are part of your brand. These things make up who you are as a “business.” If you are attempting to create a strong brand, then you need to be clear with all aspects of your business. Now, that doesn’t mean you can’t sport a Minion t-shirt from time to time. Go for it. Just keep it away from your business opportunities.
I love Deadpool and have…*clears throat*…a few t-shirts and maybe a couple pj sets and well…you get the picture. But you will not see them at book signing events because that isn’t who or what I am trying to draw attention to. I am being consistent in my brand. I am building my image to focus on my writing not my obsession with all things Mr. Pool.
So, decide. Beard or no beard? What is your color? What is your stance? What is your brand?
Design you and stick with it. Changes can be made but wait a while and make small changes at a time.
Polish your sparkle and just keep twirling.
Find joy. Be joy. Enjoy.
I’m always looking for new friends! 😊
