What do all these topics have in common? They are all ways to communicate who you are and what you believe. It’s all about reaching your audience.
Grab your copy of Personal Branding for Dummies (A Wiley Brand), a snack (raw walnuts), a drink (infused water with lemon, blueberries, and ginger), and a notebook and pen. Flip to chapter 11and let’s get started.
Believe it or not, communication is a wide range takes organization. Look at the list of eight things at the top of this post. These are all time-consuming things. You can’t just lump them all together and be successful at any of them. You cannot half-ass any of them and be remembered as good at any of them. But there is a way to do it where your life isn’t consumed by it either.
It’s simply called planning. If you can plan things for each day, week, or month it would be easier. Here’s an example: House cleaning
I have a total of 11 spaces in my home to clean, so I break them down by days of the week. Two spaces per day leaves my weekends free for other things. It also frees up more time during my days. Today is Monday which means I clean our bedroom and the laundry room. Convenient since I needed to wash bedding. 😊 Tomorrow will be both bathrooms and so on. I can get these chores done first thing in the morning and move on with my day.
By 10:00 I am done with the chores for the day, dinner prep, shower/dressing, pets are fed and cared for. I am able to settle in at my desk and write todays chapter of the new WIP, read for my next post to all of you and research for an idea for another story. On top of all that life stuff, I am also planning writer’s group activities, contacting venues for possible author signing events and sales.
Knowing your day-to-day plan makes it easier to find space for all the other things you want to do. By 3:30 I am free to volunteer, donate blood, be present on social media, look into workshops or events I may wish to attend or participate in, and so much more.
I know it seems like a lot but if you get an at-a-glance one-page calendar it will be easy.
How does this help your brand? Being available, on time, and organized are important to building a strong image. Plans can be changed if they don’t mix well with your schedule. If you don’t have a schedule- how will you know?
Remember, having time for YOU is important. You must make time for your own well-being and happiness. If you are miserable everyone around you will know it. Being busy is fine, just not all the time. I like to shut off the world on Sundays and spend them with the Hubs doing silly stuff. We try new restaurants and go to bad movies. We unwind together. I know- I kinda like the guy. What can I say?
Polish your sparkle and just keep twirling.
Find joy. Be joy. Enjoy.
I’m always looking for new friends! 😊
