Hello friends,
Long time no see. For those of you who have been with me for a while…I’m back! I am so sorry I drifted away. My intent was to take a break, not disappear. All I can say is life slapped me in the face and shook the words right out of me. I got a new job, moved, had two surgeries and fell off the planet and into a world of schedules and meetings that, well, have the ability to suck the creativity out of the room. I keep a pocket full of atomic fireballs to keep me awake half the time. But that’s life.
To my new friends, hi, this is where I would insert my name but that’s tricky. Who did you reach for? Ticia or Nella? They are one and the same and whichever you choose, you will get the same content-ish. I am an author under both names. Ticia writes women’s lit and Nella falls closer to urban fantasy. If you want to know more, I will gladly fill you in on all the details (whether you want me to or not).
If you drift back through my over 600 posts you will see that I started out writing ‘how to’ messages, but now I need a more creative outlet and so do you. I will not remove what came before because it is helpful information written in a quick and fun format.
I have changed the site’s name from Writing Right Together to Brain Fever. Brain Fever, in the creative world, was frequently used to describe a fever driven madness. I mean, come on, you spend a lot of time visualizing the life and times of your character(s). Not to mention their conversations. You are literally talking to yourself and responding as the characters you’ve created- Brain Fever!
Wanna know how far I go to capture these ideas? Well, I’m gonna tell you anyway. Some of my best ideas occur in the shower. You know, the place where paper isn’t welcome. By the time I get out from under the water and wrap a towel around me the idea has drifted off into the stream. Now I set up the recording app on my phone and prop it up on the back of the toilet so I can talk out the ideas that work their way out as I wash my hair. It feels like I am scrubbing the ideas out of my brain. The shower spray gets to hear the details of how I will kill my next victim or woo the love interest or, well, both. You never know- I could woo the love interest just to kill them- welcome to my brain.
So, the idea for this new page is to create and let you create with me. Talk to me about what you want to see. Let’s do it together. My plan is to post at least twice a month, maybe more if the fever hits. We will talk about books (yes, mine will be in the mix), movies, and art. We will compare, critique, and summarize what we like and what we don’t.
