Think, right now, of all the words that have had an impact on you. It could be a poem, mine is Kubla Khan by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. A book may have sparked a light in you. Mine is She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb. And music, I could go on for days about all the music that has touched me. I am listening to Blue October as if my life depended on it and sometimes, music does keep us alive. Meatloaf, Billy Joel, The Who, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles got me through my formative years. Aren’t you happy to know they got me here? Words have power. Can you imagine what your life would be like if the words you love so much never reached you? Who and/or what would you be? Every time you picked up a book you held a treasure in your hands. What we are going through as writer’s isn’t new. All the greats have battled writer’s block and managed to crawl out of it to continue to create.

After listing my favorite musicians, I decided to put my music player on shuffle and got Mark McGuinn’s It’s All About the Ride. I so love that song and so many more. Imagine how blah your day would be without the words you love, without me. Gasp! Noooo! You love me. I know you do. 😊 Alright, enough about me. Let’s tuck into a wonderful book filled with words of wisdom to get us through our rough spots. As the title stated, we are on page 257 of Around the Writer’s Block by Rosanne Bane. Don’t forget your cuppa and nibbles. I have a wonderful

coffee and a mix of dried cranberries and candied pecans. What do you have? Anything I would want to try? Let me know in the comments.
With all the amazing words we have read, who has ever thought, “Who do I think I am trying to write when they are so good?!” I have. Many times. But then I thought about all the awesome

vampire books I have read and movies I have watched. Follow along with me here. Okay, so we all know the original story, Dracula written in 1897 by Bram Stoker. It was and is to this day a true masterpiece. Now, how many more books and movies have been created based off the details of the vampire. TONS! Some, truly awesome, some kinda MEH, and others- nope, but that didn’t stop people from writing their version of a classic. We all have our own voices and way of putting words on paper. I had a college professor tell me he could recognize my style anywhere. I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing, but at least I know my writing is memorable. If you never sit down and write your story, then no one will ever get to read it. No one will ever say how much it touched their lives. It will forever be tucked between your ears and never touch a soul.

Pay it forward. Do for others what others have done for you, enthrall them with your story. Give those you may never know, a safe place to fall. You see, there are at least a dozen books on my shelves that I revisit often. When I feel down, I pick up books that lift me. When I need a kick in the pants, I pull out a book that will motivate me. Sometimes, I need to cry. I need to release the tears that have been trapped by work, family, and projects that did not allow me to find a moment to let it go. I can blame my tears on a book while sitting across from the hubs on the sofa. He won’t be all, “What’s wrong? Did I do something? Tell me, tell me, tell me…” Argh! Get off! Not everything is YOU. So, I tuck myself behind the pages of a tearjerker and wave the book at him when he asks what’s up.

That is the power of words. That is the power of YOUR words. Tell your story. It could be for one person or one bazillion people. Just tell it. Get it out from between your ears and into the hands of someone who can put it on their shelves and tell the world how it is one of their favorites. You could be someone’s favorite author someday…once you write it down.
Polish your sparkle and keep twirling.
Find joy. Be joy. Enjoy.
I’m always looking for new friends!
