Not So Pretty Butterflies

I have been doing research on butterflies and their lore for my current WIP.  In Greek- the word for butterfly also means “soul.” They believed that the human soul drifted from world to world as a butterfly.  Native American’s believe butterflies are the bringer of dreams. The Celts believe they carry the souls of children yet to be born. It is their job to find the mother of the child and match them up. The Aztecs belief was that the dying breath of a man turned into a butterfly and drifted to the afterlife…ain’t that all lovely. But… you won’t find lore on this striking creature.  Harvester butterfly This is the Harvester Butterfly. It is the only known carnivorous butterfly in the US. You read right- they eat flesh, blood, tears, and they LOVE urine. Mmmmmm… They will swarm a body and devour its remains. THIS WILL BE IN MY STORY.  I can see this as a disposal device.

You’ll never look at a butterfly quite the same will you. Muahahahaha!!!!

I am...interesting. I am a writer, dreamer, mom, wife, veteran, friend, villain, and the wearer of many hats, but I don't look good in hats- go figure. I LOVE TO WRITE. I want to tell stories. I want to make you laugh, cry, and scare the crap out of you, and make you ask "why the hell did you do that?" I want to make you cheer my characters on or want to shake the crap out of them for things they say and/or do. I want to bring you along for the ride. Ready? Set?...READ!!!

  1. I love, love, love butterflies! So naturally I got excited just because this one has the word butterflies in the title. After reading your intro, well let’s just say I do not see them the same way. Ewwwwwe!
