Hi friends.

I would love to give you an excuse for my absence but there is none. We could chalk it up to laziness, boredom, even lack of preparation, but it’s not. I know what it is. It is doubting my abilities.
This is a thing most, if not all, creatives struggle with from time to time. It’s those moments when we look at our work and all we see is crap-ola. As my mother would say…Ticia, quit wasting paper. Am I wasting paper or screen time? Are my attempts at putting words down worth the effort? I am struggling here, people.

Look, I’ve taken this journey before, and I know…maybe…that I will come out of it ready to write. But for now, I will keep throw words at the screen and see what will stick. I will talk to the Hubs about the way I am feeling and eat chocolate. Hey! Don’t judge. Chocolate is good for you.

Chocolate is especially rich in flavanols like epicatechin and catechin, as well as anthocyanins and phenolic acids. All of these compounds help protect your cells from inflammation, improve your brain function, and boost your immune and cardiovascular health. Dark chocolate can also give you: Cardiovascular support-
Thank you, Google, for all your great wisdom.
I need all the help with brain function as possible. I misspelled brain while typing this. See! I need help. I know you do as well. You can admit it. We all have those times we want to curl up on the couch with a tub of Moose Tracks ice cream and watch Supernatural from the beginning. Oh, wait, that’s and everyday occurrence for me. LOL

How do we get out of this mental fog?
Allow yourself a wallow period. It’s okay to do the ice cream and Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Hulu binge period. But designate the amount of time you will allow this. Mine is three days. After three days I move. I get on my bike or put on my walking shoes and move. I make a point to get out of my house. I breathe fresh air, feed the geese, or simply get lost on the beautiful bike trails here in Illinois.
The words will come back. To entice them, I continue to write. What is that saying…?

So, I write a bad page and then another and so on. I can always go back and laugh at the mess but then fix it. We can talk/write ourselves out of the fog that has engulfed us. We must be willing to fight our way through until it lifts.
I’ll see you on the other side.
Until then…pass the ice cream and…
Polish your sparkle and keep twirling.
Find joy. Be joy. Enjoy.
I’m always looking for new friends!
