My Personal Journey: *Silence & Cookies*

Writing is something I have always wanted to do. I went into it not knowing all the ins and outs of the process until I was buried under it.

Okay, so you all know I dropped book #3 about two weeks ago. What has happened since?

Nada.

Nothing.

Brain-numbing silence.

Is this good?

Oh. My. God! Yes. Wanna know why? You know you do. It’s good cuz the weight of all those words is off my shoulders. They are tucked between a stunning cover and waiting for you to get your hot little hands on it. (Check the links below to find it.) Don’t get me wrong, I am marketing and doing signings, but the words are gone. Hence the silence. Crickets. Tea sipping, cloud watching, bird feeding, walking alone…silence. Ahhhhh…

Writing is something I have always wanted to do. I went into it not knowing all the ins and outs of the process until I was buried under it. As some of you know, I post many blogs on the skills I have learned over the course of a decade. I do my best to break down all the steps and requirements using books on the topics you have requested. It is a time-consuming process, but I love it. And I love helping others do the same. The keyword here is HELPING not doing.

My biggest problem is saying no to requests (demands) of others. ‘Wanna read my story and critique It and, like, fix it, and format it, and …’ ARGH! Are you wanting me to draft your book too? No. Now I’m not trying to be a jerk here, but ya kinda need to learn how to do some of these things yourself. Seriously.  Everyone has a story tucked inside them but not everyone has the desire to put it on paper. For those of us crazy people who do – wow. Good on ya, friends.

I am taking a bit of time to clear my brain of Time Thief’s characters and plot points. It’s hard to say goodbye to their little voices that have bounced around my head for years, but I must make room for my next story and those characters have already started whispering in my ears. I am telling them to back off for a bit cuz I just wanna nap and bake and paint. Not words. Nope. For the next few months, I will be working on marketing, vendor events, and plotting…Sin Full 2! That won’t be the title, but it will help you understand what I’m planning. I will also continue to write My Personal Journey and writing skills blogs.

Right now, I am gonna sign off and go bake some shortbread cookies and do some laundry. Fun, right?

Have a fresh cuppa and a nibble and wish me luck on these cookies. It’s a new recipe. Wanna try it?

Cranberry Pistachio Shortbread

Ingredients
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter softened (1 stick)
1/3 cup granulated white sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup pistachios, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup dried cranberries chopped

Method
Mix all-purpose flour and salt and keep aside.

Beat butter until smooth. (About 1 – 2 minutes)

Add sugar and beat until creamy (About 3 minutes)

Add vanilla extract and mix.

Stir in the flour-salt mixture and mix gently. Add pistachio. Add the cranberries.

Mix to combine. If the mixture is crumbly, use a few drops of water to form a dough.

Place the dough in a parchment paper and shape it into a rectangle about 10 inches long and 2 inches wide.

Wrap it and place in refrigerator for 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 325F.

Remove dough from refrigerator and slice into 1 cm thick slices.

Place in a parchment lined baking sheet and bake in a 325F preheated oven for 14 – 18 minutes until the edges start turning brown.

**I sprayed the parchment paper since I had issues getting stuff off of it. **

Polish your sparkle and keep twirling.

Find joy. Be joy. Enjoy.

I’m always looking for new friends!

I am...interesting. I am a writer, dreamer, mom, wife, veteran, friend, villain, and the wearer of many hats, but I don't look good in hats- go figure. I LOVE TO WRITE. I want to tell stories. I want to make you laugh, cry, and scare the crap out of you, and make you ask "why the hell did you do that?" I want to make you cheer my characters on or want to shake the crap out of them for things they say and/or do. I want to bring you along for the ride. Ready? Set?...READ!!!
