I sat in shock as I watched the news. I watched men and women who claimed to love our country, smash windows, destroy property, and assault officers of the law in our Capitol. I cried. I swore. I wondered why and how this could happen…and then he stood in front of a camera and declared the election was stolen and that he loved those who were there, but they should go home. Which is it Mr. President? Go home in peace or continue to give you reason to love them? You are misleading in the way you speak. You talk out of the side of your mouth, whispering your true intent hidden behind politics. You are a vile human being who should be legally held accountable for the trauma you have caused to this entire country.
I am crushed at the way this all played out. Where were law enforcement? Where was the National Guard? Why weren’t they prepared? They knew people were coming. Even the local businesses were smart enough to board up their windows. Also, another quick question, why weren’t these WHITE men and women manhandled the way black protesters have been in the past? I am so disgusted.
I look at my military memorabilia and wonder if it was a waste of my time. No, it wasn’t. I will never feel bad about being a patriot. My family’s military history can be traced back to the Civil War. I will continue to stand up for this country and our democracy. We are strong and we will rebuild our faith in this land. All families fight. We get snippy and say and do things that can hurt others, but in the end, we mend the fences and find a happy middle ground. We will get there.

Our new beginning.
Pray for us. Pray for yourself and the world. We are in need of kindness and a calm hand.
Amen.
