The Spirit is the end all be all in the game of wellness. If it ain’t right, ain’t nothin’ right.
I do not wish to get into an argument about religion or who’s God is better, because I think they all have something worthwhile to say, but that is not what this is about. This is about what moves you. What makes you glow from the inside out. The feelings you have in all you do and why you do it.
What moves you? Not physically- emotionally. What makes you tick? That’s your spirit. That feeling of absolute peace and joy. Without that, your world slips into chaos and nothing seems to work. Now, we just have to figure out how, why, and where to find that feeling every day.
I find my inner glow right here. Words, dancing on a screen, racing across the page, leaving thoughts and ideas in their wake. THAT is my spirit. I find joy in reading and writing and creating stories to share. I love talking to all of you through this website. I find peace when I confess and enlighten. I feel joy when I make you laugh or reading comments that something I wrote- my words- have touched you in some way. I know where to find my inner spirit. Let’s find yours.
What do you look forward to every day? Is there one single moment that makes you take in a deep cleansing breath and release it slowly in relief? Why do you think that is? Do you feel calmer at that moment? Where are you and what are you doing?
I could fill this page with a bunch of metaphysical words or link you to thousands of websites that will talk about God’s and chakras and meditation. They would all be right in their own opinions, but I want your opinion on you. You know what works for you. You know what makes you happy. The question is, why aren’t you spending more time in those moments? That is where your spirit lives. In the moments of absolute peace and joy. Some will find it in church, others on a mountaintop, and others still in absolute silence.
The Spirit is your motivator. It is the inner desire to do and be and succeed in all things while at peace. Peace is the key. I have held jobs in the past that I was rockin’ good at, but I hated every minute I spent at them. There was no peace and the longer I was there the worse I felt about EVERYTHING. I took that anger home and inflicted it on my family. It was horrible. I was surrounded by people who took joy in seeing others fail. It hurt to my very core to open that door every morning and walk into the hornet’s nest. One day I finally had enough and walk out without a single word to anyone and you would have thought I could fly. The weight of carrying that anger and oppression were gone and I could breathe. That is peace. That was releasing my spirit.
What makes you “fly”? How do you get there? Do you know?
Look at the things you do every day. Make a list of everything you do in a week. Put a check next to the things you enjoy and an X next to those you don’t. Remember, some things we don’t like NEED to be done no matter what…like the dishes. I hate dishes but hate dirty plates more. Okay, look at the things with a check mark- do any of these things make you smile just seeing them on the page? Did you smile while writing it? Your spirit is in that. That thing you wrote- feeds your inner glow.
Is it a walk in nature? Playing catch with your kids? Meditating? Whatever it is, you need to do more of it. I have written about “You can’t help others if you are a hot mess”, before. You have to fill your own tanks before you can be of any help to others. This is where finding what builds up your spirit comes into play. Fill your tanks.
I like to help people. I like to be available to help when I can, but I also know that these efforts can wear me out especially if I am dealing with a negative individual. Have you ever hung out with someone who can suck the fun right out of a room? They are a drain on your happiness. I noticed it when I would dread them coming around. When you don’t look forward to spending time with that person then there is a problem there. Surround yourself with positivity and you will be a positive person.
Dear Fun Sucker,
You know who you are. Only you can fix your inner thoughts and spirit. If your goal is to make people as miserable as you then, please, re-evaluate your goals. You won’t gain friends by being like this and I won’t have you messin’ with my groove.
~ Thanks,
Ticia ~
I am that person who will tell you if you are being a dick. I will call you out on being mean for the sake of hurting people. We have enough of that every day when we turn on the news. I will not have it in my little chunk of the world. I feed my spirit. I hope I help nourish the spirits around me. Be a joy, not a burden and you will do the same for others.
***It has been fun writing this segment. If you have any comments or suggestions on topics you wish to get my quirky view on- let me know in the comments. Until next time…
Find joy. Be joy. Enjoy.
