or should I say- the right words.
Writing Superstitions…
I am a writer who has trouble writing. Sadly, that is not so uncommon. We are plagued with doubt and superstitions. I can write my heart out one day and read it the next and want to burn it so no one, ever, has to read such trash. We get our selves into a tizzy trying to make sure the lighting is right, or the proper music is playing in the background, your pen and paper are tilted in the right direction on the left side of the desk with the pen facing the door…and don’t forget to light the candles in the order you did when you wrote your one master piece back in 2012 and the use the coffee cup with the chip on the handle cuz it was what you were using when that inspiational hook popped into your head- ARGH!
I. Just. Want. To. Write.
I have been working on my current WIP for a year now and am ready to just be done with it. I have the entire story plotted. I know what happens and when, but for some reason, the words won’t fall out of my fingers onto the keyboard. I need to write before my head explodes and character bits stick to the walls. Have you ever had to scrape character bits off the walls? Not pretty.
I talk to my MC and ask him to move it along a bit faster- or- at all. I ask him nicely and he just sneers at me. The rest of the characters just look at him and then me and shrug- like- “What he says goes.” FINE.
Now, where is the lighter I have to use to light the candles in the order they must be lit…?
