Military Barbie?

So, today on the book of faces Trans soldiers were referred to as Barbie dolls in uniform. How does that even make sense?  These people then went so far as to say that Trans and gay soldiers want to turn our military uniforms pink. Ummm…no.

Here is my PSA for such people.

(To me) Trans individuals are some of the bravest people I have ever met. These amazing people get up every day and step outside knowing that they will be judged, ridiculed, and targeted by close minded idiots, yet they do it every day. They put on their lipstick and lace up their combat boots and kick ass. They chose to transition, not to piss you off, but to be true to themselves. The goal was inner peace not to poke you in the face and dare you to respond. They don’t need your permission just as you don’t need their permission to be assholes.

Money, Money, money!!!!  Which of you has NEVER seen a doctor? If you have never sat in a doctor’s office then you are the dude from the Unbreakable movie and you freak me out. But, chances are all of us have sat on a table covered with crinkling paper. Now, as a women I have had a hysterectomy that required hormone replacement meds.  This is the same medication a trans woman needs. What’s the difference? I needed it. She needs it. Ta-da

“Straight” men have issues with testosterone and are provided with meds. Trans men need testosterone too. Where is the difference?

Surgery- I had one surgery that cost over $65,000. If you do a bit of research you will see that my spine surgery cost around $10,000 more than a reassignment surgery.  But here is something to keep in mind… NOT ALL TRANS  INDIVIDUALS WANT SURGERY.

Military service is NOT a right. You do have to pass physical, mental, and emotional testing. Here’s something that most people forget-  it is voluntary. You are going to throw a fit because someone volunteered to serve this country?  You’re pissed because they are “different” than you, but did you serve?  If you didn’t then don’t talk to me about it. I served. I raised my right hand and swore an oath and so did that guy or gal. They volunteered to put their lives on the line for YOU.

If you want something to bitch about, than let’s focus on sexual assaults in the military, now that’s something to freak out over.

I am...interesting. I am a writer, dreamer, mom, wife, veteran, friend, villain, and the wearer of many hats, but I don't look good in hats- go figure. I LOVE TO WRITE. I want to tell stories. I want to make you laugh, cry, and scare the crap out of you, and make you ask "why the hell did you do that?" I want to make you cheer my characters on or want to shake the crap out of them for things they say and/or do. I want to bring you along for the ride. Ready? Set?...READ!!!
