Mirrors
Mirrors aren’t so great you see,
because they show the real me.
Mirrors show the flaws of youth
Like gross pimples or a crooked tooth.
Frizzy hair or hair too straight,
plain eyes that aren’t so great.
Mirrors show the steps of age,
like crow’s feet and eyes that fade.
Graying skin and a double chin,
once beautiful hair that’s now too thin.
Mirrors aren’t so great, in fact,
I do believe mine is packed.
Behind the wigs and makeup case,
the ironing board and an old, cracked vase.
The more I have to examine my face,
the more I like that old, cracked vase.
Mirrors, what a waste.

*** Should I put out a book of poetry? I have a bunch. ***
Polish your sparkle and keep twirling.
Find joy. Be joy. Enjoy.
I’m always looking for new friends!
